SOUTH AFRICA
Discover South Africa: A Land of Diversity and Adventure
South Africa is one of those destinations that truly has a bit of everything. Stretching over 1,200 kilometres from north to south, it’s a country full of contrasts — from lush coastal landscapes to dry deserts and dramatic mountain ranges.
One of the biggest highlights, of course, is the wildlife. South Africa is home to some of the best game reserves in Africa, including Kruger National Park. Here, you have the chance to see the famous Big Five — lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants, and buffalo — along with so many other incredible animals.
For a more exclusive experience, private reserves like Sabi Sands Game Reserve offer a closer, more intimate safari. However, wildlife is just one part of what makes South Africa so special.
Beyond the safaris, the country is rich in culture and history. Cape Town is often a highlight, with its iconic Table Mountain, beautiful beaches, and vibrant neighbourhoods like Bo-Kaap. You can also visit Robben Island, a place filled with deep historical significance, or explore the nearby Winelands for world-class food and wine.
If you’re up for a road trip, the Garden Route is one of the most scenic drives in the country. It’s filled with charming towns, lush forests, and stunning coastal views.
Meanwhile, the Drakensberg Mountains offer incredible hiking and panoramic landscapes, while the Kalahari Desert provides a completely different, more rugged experience.
Because of its size and variety, South Africa isn’t a place you can fully explore in just one trip. Instead, it’s somewhere you come back to — each visit revealing something new, from bustling cities to quiet, untouched wilderness.
Currency
South Africa uses the South African Rand (ZAR). ATMs are widely available in cities and towns, and most businesses accept credit and debit cards.

South Africa has 11 official languages, including Afrikaans, English, Zulu, and Xhosa. English is widely spoken, especially in tourism and business.
Drinking Tap Water

Visa Requirement
Most travellers need a visa to enter South Africa. The type of visa depends on the purpose and duration of the visit. It’s important to check the visa requirements well in advance.
Discover South Africa’s Delicious Foods
South African cuisine is a rich fusion of African, European, and Asian flavours, creating some truly unique and memorable dishes. Here are a few must-try favourites:
🍖 Biltong – A popular South African snack made from cured meat that’s marinated for around 24 hours before being air-dried for several days, giving it a bold and savoury flavour.
🌭 Boerewors – A traditional sausage made from coarsely minced beef, often blended with pork or lamb. It’s seasoned with a mix of spices like coriander, black pepper, nutmeg, cloves, and allspice.
🍮 Malva Pudding – A warm, soft dessert with a caramelised texture, usually infused with apricot jam. It’s served with a rich cream sauce and often paired with custard or ice cream.
🍛 Bunny Chow – A hearty and flavourful dish made from a hollowed-out loaf of bread filled with curry, typically served with a side of salad.
Best Time to Visit
The best time to visit South Africa depends on your interests. The summer months (November to March) are ideal for beach holidays. They are also great for wildlife viewing. The winter months (May to September) are perfect for exploring the cities. They are also ideal for hiking in the mountains.
